01 October 2006, Orcalab reports:

Distant calls audible.

Dolphins and orcas both in Johnstone Strait. The A1s ssound like they have returned via Weynton Pass. The dolphin group, may be the 400+ strong group which went east yesterday and may be taking up a goodly stretch of the Strait.

No calls but orcas nearby

The A30s came up from the east briefly and then turned back quickly off of Critical Point. The Naiad Explorer reports that the A12s are in Browning Pass (western Queen Charlotte Strait). The dolphins we heard earlier this morning were later reported off the Eve River still travelling eastward.

Orcas rubbing on the shore bottom.

The A30s are spending a little bit of time at the beaches right now.

Orcas near mics.

The A30s are heading back west past Robson Bight. The boat noise is mostly the fish boats moving about in advance of the fishing opening later.

The A30s continued west past CP and the entrance to Blackney Pass. Around 3:30pm they were off the Big Bay/Little Kaiakash area. Unfortunately, they were being harassed while moving westward. Sad... when people do not respect the whales.

No orcas present.

All "quiet" after the A30s faded off into the distance. The big question is which way. We are betting they went west into Weynton Pass and out but there were no real definite signs so we will wait and listen and see.
