10 October 2006, Orcalab reports:

No calls but orcas nearby

Very sorry that the connection has been down. It should be okay now. While we were down the A30s turned up again this morning. (we did not hear calls last night). The A30s were very clear (near) Critical Point in Johnstone Strait. Since about 11:30am they have been either silent or out of range. The fog has now cleared and it is a beautiful Fall day here.

No orcas present.

Sorry it seems we had a further problem BUT this is now fixed and hopefully we are back on track. Still no calls since 11:30am and we are not sure where the A30s ended up.

No orcas present.

We found out tonight that the A30s went off to Queen Charlotte Strait today. They were last seen heading out to Numas Island. Thanks to the Naiad Explorer (MacKay Whale Watching) for the report. While out on Queen Charlotte Strait the MacKays heard other As and Gs in the distance so possibly new groups are returning to the area and the A30s are off to meet up with them. Exciting news! The tide will be flooding again early in the morning.
