12 September 2007, Orcalab reports:

No orcas present.

We heard no calls overnight & don't know what happened to the A30s after we lost track of them early yesterday evening.

No calls but orcas nearby

The A30s, who had headed east in Johnstone Strait last night, are returning to the west. They are now on the Vancouver Island side of the Strait, past Naka Creek, and approaching the eastern boundary of the Reserve. One of the males, A38 or A39, is mid-strait. It's possible that the A30s will head into the rubbing beaches soon. (Report from Naiad Explorer).

Orcas near mics.

We're hearing close calls & echolocation from the A30s on the Critical Point hydrophone. Some of them (just a few) had a brief rub on their way west. Boat noise is persistent in the background.

The A30s have turned back to he east but whether or not they come all the way is still uncertain. They are calling quite frequently.
